Now that the summer temperatures are dwindling and Labor Day has passed, it’s time to get excited about fall outfit ideas! It’s easily my favorite season to style looks. And the street style trends have been going off! Think fall layers, oversized blazers, deep hues, leather jackets, lug booties, sweater vests, patterns, and cowboy boots. In this post, I’m going to break down “The Best Fall Outfit Ideas Try in 2024” to help you dress your best this season.

Fall Outfit Ideas: Menswear + Tailored Pieces
We’ve seen this trend pop up throughout the years, but it’s all about menswear and tailored pieces this season. I’m talking tailored wide-leg pants pants, oversized blazers, and vests galore. The oversized blazer is a fall staple, bringing effortless sophistication and warmth. It pairs well with anything from jeans to mini-skirts. Layer it over a turtleneck or graphic tee, and finish with ankle boots for a casual, chic look.
You can mix this menswear trend with a sweater dress paired with a plaid blazer. As seen in the photo to the left, you can complete the look with a lug sole bootie to elevate the game. Top it off with a beret and you are good to go!
Another great outfit idea is to pair a letterman sweater with a mini skirt and tall socks for a collegiate look. Finally, you can don a plaid skort with over-the-knee boots and a neutral sweater. The Frankie Shop does this trend right, however, the pieces are a bit pricey. Either way, you chose, this is a great way to style this trend.

Leather / Vegan Leather
Back by popular demand the leather trend is here to stay! Whether you choose to don a classic leather jacket (which will never go out of style), vegan leather trousers paired with a bodysuit or pick up a fun leather puffer you can’t go wrong with a new leather piece. If you’re considering investing in a piece this fall let it be a leather jacket. They bring a touch of edginess and versatility to any fall wardrobe. Finally, you can wear it over a dress with cowboy boots for a trendy, cool look, or pair it with denim and a turtleneck.
Amazon Fall Fashion
If you’re on a budget this fall, I’ve assembled the ultimate list of Fall Outfit pieces to shop! All of these pieces are classic and can be worn for seasons to come. From cozy sweaters to chic accessories, Amazon has an incredible range of options that won’t break the bank. Here are some of my favorite picks:
Classic Sweaters
- Chunky Knit Cardigan
A staple for layering, this oversized chunky knit cardigan is perfect for crisp fall mornings and can be dressed up or down. Its timeless style ensures that it can be worn year after year, with jeans, leggings, or a dress. Look for neutral tones like beige, gray, or camel to get the most versatility. - Turtleneck Sweater
A turtleneck is a fall must-have. I love Amazon’s selection of lightweight, high-neck sweaters that offer a polished look while keeping you cozy. They come in rich fall colors like burgundy, forest green, and mustard. - Cropped Pullover Sweater
Cropped sweaters are a fun, modern twist on the classic. Paired with high-waisted jeans or skirts, they keep your look fresh. Amazon has some great options with balloon sleeves and ribbed designs that mimic higher-end brands.

Sweater Dresses for Fall
Sweater dresses are a must-have trend for fall 2024, blending cozy comfort with effortless style. These versatile pieces can be dressed up or down, making them perfect for a range of autumn activities. For a chic daytime look, pair a sweater dress with knee-high boots and a wide-brimmed hat to create a polished yet relaxed vibe. Layer with a tailored coat or oversized scarf for added warmth and dimension.
To transition into the evening, swap the boots for heeled ankle booties and add statement jewelry to elevate the look. Play with different textures like ribbed knits or cable patterns for an extra dose of fall flair.
Denim, Denim, Denim
I have seen no shortage of denim on-denim looks while shopping for fall. Pick up a pair of classic straight-leg jeans that seem to be the cut of choice this season. Our beloved skinny jeans are not making a comeback anytime soon but remember to wear what makes you feel comfortable. If you cannot let go of the skinny jeans style opt for a split hem boot cut leg for a trendy spin on our beloved jeans.
Along with that snippets of 90’s grunge, wide-leg jeans, and denim jumpsuits. Either way picking up a great-fitting pair of jeans is always a good idea. I’ve written an entire blog post on “The Best Straight-Leg Denim” so check that post out as well. Finally, for a chic version of this trend pick up a denim dress and pair it with cowboy boots or booties.
Matching Sets
If loving matching sets is wrong, then I don’t want to be right! This trend has evolved into a versatile fashion staple that can be styled in countless ways. Whether you’re opting for a cozy casual look with a knit set or going for a more polished vibe with a cropped blazer and mini skirt, matching sets are quickly becoming a classic wardrobe essential. For an elevated take on a knit set, consider accessorizing with acetate sunglasses and trendy lug-sole loafers for that perfect blend of comfort and style.
Trench Coats
A classic trench coat is one of those timeless pieces you can never go wrong with—it’s the ultimate wardrobe staple. Whether you’re dressing for a crisp fall day or layering up for unpredictable weather, the trench coat is versatile and effortlessly chic. For a polished and put-together look, pair your trench with straight-leg jeans, a crisp button-down, and sleek booties.
This combination never fails to create an iconic fall outfit. If you’re feeling bold, consider swapping out the traditional trench for a leather version, which has surged in popularity in recent years. For an added touch of edge, elevate the look with lug sole loafers, giving the outfit a modern twist. Whatever your choice, the trench coat remains the perfect finishing touch for any fall ensemble.
Lug Sole Boots + Booties
The lug sole shoe trend is continuing its stronghold on the fashion scene, and it’s easy to see why. First rising to prominence last fall and winter, lug soles—characterized by their thick, rugged, and traction-heavy bottoms—combine both form and function. They not only add a bit of edge to any outfit but are also incredibly practical for colder months when slippery conditions are more common.
I own several pairs, and I can vouch for their comfort and versatility. Whether you’re opting for the classic pull-on Chelsea-style lug boots, knee-high versions, or even the more casual lug sole loafers and lace-up booties, these shoes offer a reliable, fashionable choice. Their chunkier sole adds a statement to your look, and their sturdy design ensures that they support your feet all day long. This trend blends functionality and style, making it perfect for both fashion-forward outfits and practical, everyday wear.
Dad Sneakers
The sneaker trend has been going strong for years, and honestly, I hope it never fades—comfort is key, after all! This fall, it’s all about embracing court shoes, dad sneakers, and vintage trainers. These styles are not only on-trend but also incredibly versatile. Pair them effortlessly with wide-leg pants for a laid-back vibe, a sweater dress for an easy mix of cozy and cool, or leggings for the ultimate casual-chic look. No matter how you style them, sneakers remain the perfect blend of fashion and function this season.
Western Boots
Giddy up, cowgirls! This fall, we’re seeing a shift from the cowgirl hats that stole the spotlight over the summer to western-style boots taking center stage. From festivals to streetwear, western fashion continues to ride high, and it’s no surprise that the iconic cowgirl boots are leading the charge this season.
Whether you’re embracing the tall, classic cowgirl boots with intricate stitching and pointed toes or going for something more versatile like western ankle boots, these styles are perfect for elevating any fall look. The tall boots give you that bold, timeless western flair, while the ankle versions are easier to style for everyday wear, offering the same rugged appeal but in a more laid-back, accessible way.
And while Birkenstock clogs aren’t technically Western, their earthy, casual vibe pairs surprisingly well with the Western trend. With their chunky, comfortable silhouette, they complement the effortless, down-to-earth aesthetic of the fall season. Western-inspired boots are a fun, fashionable way to add some frontier flair to your wardrobe this autumn, proving that the cowgirl trend is here to stay.
