The coastal lifestyle is an integral part of everyday life in Mission Bay. It’s most reminiscent of Venice Beach in Los Angeles however with more of a neighborhood feel. With the bay on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other, you are spoiled with beautiful water views and easy access to miles of sandy beaches. Whether you want to catch a breathtaking sunset over the bay or indulge in water activities like kayaking or paddleboarding.
Paradise Point Resort and Spa
Situated on a private, 44-acre island in the heart of San Diego’s Mission Bay. It makes for an extremely romantic getaway, I may be biased because I was engaged here myself. The resort also features five swimming pools, a dedicated kids’ pool, and a variety of water sports to keep young ones entertained.

Guests can explore the calm waters of the bay by renting kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, or paddleboats. For those seeking adventure, jet skiing, and sailboat rentals are also available. The resort’s private beach provides the perfect spot to soak up the sun and enjoy beach activities. The pool at the resort is ok however I included it in this list due to the proximity of the bay and private beach.

The only place in San Diego that does this as it mimics a European beach club. The Lafayette Hotel

Built-in 1946, this iconic hotel has been a beloved destination for travelers and locals alike for decades. The hotel had a major glow-up and recently underwent a 30 million restoration by Consortium Holdings. A famous restaurant group in San Diego. It reopened in July of 2023 and has the most unique and over-the-top interior. The pool bar feels like a tropical oasis. There are tons of other amenities to indulge in in the new Lafayette including a bowling alley bar. This stay is perfect for young couples and those looking for a more unique accommodation. Finally, you’re able to book a day pass. touse the pool however it’s currently at $88 per lounge chair which in my opinion, is steep. Hopefully, it will drop after high season.
North County, San Diego

If you don’t want to stay on the property, you can book a spa appointment and you are able to use the facilities for the entire day. You can also rent private cabanas and the poolside food is delicious (get the cobb salad!). Finally, their commitment to providing personalized service and attention to detail ensures a truly unforgettable stay.
