Gucci Princetown Mule: My Honest Review

Debating about buying The Gucci Princetown Mule? I’m here to share my honest review to help you decide. The Gucci Princetown Mule has been deemed the “it” shoe since it hit the runway back in 2015. And believe me, it’s not going anywhere! I’ve had mine for a few months now and find myself reaching for them over and over again. Not only are they comfortable but they are so timeless that these babies will stay in style forever. In this guide, I’m going to share my honest review of the Gucci mules, ways to style them, and compare them against the Gucci Jordaan Loafers.

Durability + Sizing

The Gucci mules are made in Italy with fine leather (leather upper, sole, and lining). It features a gold-toned Horsebit as decoration and has a .4″ heel. They are known to run small so I would suggest sizing up a half-size. I typically wear a women’s size 8 and purchased the 38.5 and they fit perfectly. Since it’s made entirely of leather the lifetime of this shoe is 5-10 years. Depending on how often you wear them and how well you take care of them.

Pros to the mule

HIGH QUALITY

These mules are handmade in Italy with the finest Italian leather so they’ll last for years if you take care of them properly. PRO TIP: for your designer shoes, take them to a cobbler to put an additional Vibram sole to keep the longevity.

COMFORTABLE

These babies were broken in quite quickly (after the first 3 times I wore them). I even walked around for hours in Times Square with these on and my feet did not hurt afterward. If that’s not the ultimate test I don’t know what is.

timeless

These are so classic that you can style them with almost anything. Being that they are so timeless you will have them in your closet for years to come. A great investment for sure!

stay in place

Unlike most mules, your feet do not slide around when wearing these. I think it’s best to wear these without socks.

Cons to the mule

leather crease: after the first wear the leather creased at the top however, it doesn’t bother me
stiff in the beginning: it took me a 3 wears to really break them in but after that they were great
pricey: compared to other mules however, I tend to go for quality over quantity in my closet

How to Style the Gucci Princetown Mule

There is a myriad of ways to style your mule. Since they are classic you can pair them with a simple outfit (jeans and white button-down) and look pulled together. Below are some of my other favorite ways to wear the Gucci Princetown Mule:

wide-leg or straight-leg jeans
mini dresses + midi dresses
skinny jeans and an oversized sweater
shorts paired with a white button-down
blazer and tapered pants

Mule vs Loafer

Personally, the Gucci mule works best for me being that I live on the west coast. However, if you plan on wearing these in a colder climate you can consider purchasing the Jordaan Loafers. They are just as timeless, are known to be extremely comfortable, and will keep your feet a bit warmer.
